About This Spot
Stepping into SOWL Restaurant on Koornang Road in Carnegie is like being invited to a quietly elegant Mediterranean gathering, where every moment feels both thoughtfully curated and warmly spontaneous. The soft, dim lighting embraces the room in a gentle glow that invites ease and lingering conversation, crafting a space that’s polished yet never stiff. It’s the kind of place where time slows just enough to appreciate the textures of the night—the flicker of candlelight on a glass of Shiraz, the subtle clink of cutlery on plates filled with thoughtfully prepared food.
The mood at SOWL strikes a delicate balance between refined and relaxed, creating an atmosphere that nurtures connection without pretense. Staff move attentively but with a sincerity that makes you feel less like a guest in a restaurant and more like a welcomed friend at a cherished table. This warmth is immediately evident, setting the tone for a relaxed, unhurried pace throughout the evening.
The menu at SOWL reads like a collection of stories from the Mediterranean coast, each dish an invitation to explore layers of flavor that feel both familiar and inventive. Whether sharing the richness of melt-in-your-mouth lamb, the joyous freshness of grilled calamari paired with seasonal salsa, or delicate lobster-infused pasta made to savor bite by bite, every plate speaks to a respectful and inspired approach to traditional ingredients. There’s a genuine harmony here between comfort and craftsmanship that makes dining feel intimate and celebratory all at once.
It’s not just about the food, though. The experience deepens with the thoughtful pairing of cocktails and wines, each complementing the meal while adding its own nuance to the evening’s story. From smoky Negronis to playful mocktails and indulgent dessert cocktails, every sip enhances the easy, engaging rhythm of the night.
SOWL feels like a local treasure quietly inviting discovery—a place to mark special occasions or simply savor one more lovely dinner with good company. It’s a neighborhood gem where warmth, atmosphere, and the gentle joy of shared meals come together with an authenticity that feels distinctly rich and satisfying.

Always passed by this restaurant but recently only booked a table for 2 out of curiosity from the high Google reviews. Upon entry, we were immediately welcomed and the entire experience began! The chef came to our table to welcome us and explained the entire menu. We ended up getting the 4-course sharing menu. The food was AMAZING and the service IMPECCABLE. It has been a while since we were impressed with a restaurant! The entire dining experience was perfect! Really worth visiting for non-locals! No guest leaves this restaurant unsatisfied!

I took a friend to SOWL for their birthday, and we had a great experience. The restaurant itself strikes a perfect balance—it looks classy and very nice without feeling posh or stuffy. We started with the pickles, bread, and the taramasalata, which were all absolutely incredible and fresh. The bread looks like a piece of art, and the taramasalata was wonderfully refreshing and fluffy. The only dish that missed the mark was the tuna crudo; the fish just didn't shine and the flavours were a mess. For our main course, we shared the “Lamb of Gods,” the goat curd ravioli, and the cauliflower gratin. The lamb was a clear highlight—flavorful, perfectly slow-cooked, and a generous portion for two. The ravioli was really tasty, offering a unique and balanced taste. (A quick tip: it's a smaller dish, so don't order it as a standalone main unless you have a bunch of other food). The cauliflower gratin was another very nice and tasty side. We finished with the espresso martini tiramisu. It was very tasty (and sweet!), though it was served in a tall glass, which was a bit awkward to share. Finished the meal absolutely full. What really stood out, however, was the service. The team was ultra-attentive, our water was never empty, and everyone had genuine smiles. You could feel they were doing everything possible to create a good experience. I’d definitely come back again with friends.

What a wonderful experience we had dining at Sowl last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed all the foods we ordered. Standouts were the lamb shoulder, the lobster pasta and the grilled calamari. They have a good selection of wines to complement the food. Service was friendly and warm. Would be back to try the other dishes.

Such an amazing experience! Thank you to the team at ‘Sowl Restaurant’ for the delicious food, lovely service and ambience. Everything was so tasty and the roast lamb and the beef short ribs were melt in your mouth. We will definitely be back, looks like we’ve found our next favorite spot for high quality dining.

Thank you for a wonderful dining experience! The food was incredibly flavorful and beautifully presented, with perfect timing between courses. The desserts were delicious, and the portions were generous. The service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated, creating a great vibe, and I especially loved the dim lighting. Can’t wait to return!

Came here after seeing lots of good reviews, however the entrees and main dishes were not to our liking. The dishes were rather bland. We prefer bolder taste. Fortunately, the excellent desserts saved our otherwise disappointing night.

We had an amazing dinner here recently. We ordered the chargrilled calamari, scallops with chickpeas, lobster pasta and the beef cheeks with grilled broccolini with feta. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked and well balanced flavours. The beef cheeks could’ve used a little bit more salt but otherwise it was super tender. Have to say that the standout dish for me was the lobster pasta. It was cooked al dente and acidity from the citrus with the lobster was a nice combination. The espresso martini tiramisu was also really good but a tad sweet for me, however, the portion was very generous (which is hard to tell from the photo).
